Rhinehessen - the largest wine-growing district in Germany

Rhinehessen is situated in an area between four famous cities and called the „sun-square“: Mainz- which is well-known for its Carnival, Bingen- the entry of the world heritage site "Upper Middle Rhine Valley" and the ethnic towns Alzey, and Worms- as a stage for the famous “Nibelungen” saga festivals. However, Rhinehessen is not only characterized by its famous cities but is in fact the largest wine-growing district in Germany.

Mild average temperatures with longer periods of sunshine, combined with an exceptional variation of rich soil structure, create outstanding conditions to grow high quality appealing wines which all tastes thrive on.

Currently, Rhinehessen is characterized by a new generation of young winemakers who create wines that meets the highest demands. Experience the diversity of the growing white wines such as Riesling, Silvaner, Pinot Gris, etc., supplemented by typical regional red wines such as Pinot Noir, Portugieser and Dornfelder.

Come and experience the Rhinehessen warmth and life style in the world famous wine towns of the so-called “Rhine front” (Bodenheim, Nackenheim, Nierstein, Oppenheim) or in the villages of the Rhine-hessian hill country. Their cosy wine taverns, family-run wineries invite visitors to wholeheartedly enjoy their holidays and leisure time.
